Paglieri is one of Italy's oldest and most storied cosmetics and household brands, founded in the 19th century and still active today after more than 130 years. Based in Alessandria, Piedmont, the company built its reputation on quality beauty and hygiene products — soaps, perfumes, face powders, and hair care — marketed through some of the most beautiful commercial posters of the Art Deco era. Their advertising campaigns, illustrated by leading artists of the day including Moltrasio, are now prized by collectors of vintage Italian graphic art.

Velluto di Hollywood — Hollywood Velvet — was Paglieri's most glamorous creation: an ultra-refined face powder that brought the allure of cinema's femmes fatales into the everyday lives of Italian women. An unprecedented success, it carried the magic of the silver screen straight to the dressing table.
