Painted in 1907, La Charmeuse de Serpents (The Snake Charmer) is one of Henri Rousseau's most celebrated and hypnotic jungle compositions. A dark, silhouetted figure stands at the water's edge playing a flute, while serpents rise and sway from the lush, moonlit vegetation around her.
