Eugène Delacroix painted Women of Algiers in Their Apartment in 1834 following a rare visit to North Africa — one of the few Europeans permitted to enter a private Algerian home at the time. The result was a luminous, jewel-toned masterpiece of Romantic painting, now housed in the Louvre in Paris. Four women are depicted in an intimate interior suffused with rich fabrics, warm light, and an atmosphere of quiet sensuality.
The painting became one of the most influential works of the 19th century, inspiring Van Gogh, Gauguin, Renoir, and later Picasso, who created a celebrated series of 15 paintings in homage to it. This museum-quality giclée print faithfully reproduces Delacroix’s extraordinary palette and detail, making it a truly exceptional piece for any art lover’s collection.
