Claude Monet (1840–1926) was the father of French Impressionism — the painter who taught the world to see light differently. In the last thirty years of his life, nearly blind but still painting with fierce devotion, he created what many consider the greatest series in the history of art.
Water Lilies is a series of approximately 250 paintings depicting the lily pond at Monet’s legendary garden in Giverny, Normandy. Each canvas captures a different hour, a different season, a different mood — the shimmer of morning light, the stillness of a summer afternoon, the melancholy of autumn reflections. Together they form an immersive world of color and water that dissolves the boundary between painting and nature.
The monumental panels of the Water Lilies series are permanently installed in the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, where they have moved visitors to tears for nearly a century. Now one of these luminous visions can live in your home.
